ComedyDrop: a home for comedy creators, with earning built in
01

The challenge

Comedy creators usually publish on general social platforms. There their work competes with everything else, reach is decided by algorithms they do not control, and getting paid directly by fans is awkward or impossible.

Fans, in turn, have no single place to follow the comedy they like, and creators have no way to offer extra content to the people who love it most.

02

What we built

We built ComedyDrop as a comedy-only platform. Creators get their own branded page, post memes, comics and videos, and decide what is free and what sits behind a subscription or a tip. Fans browse by comedy category, react with a laugh, follow creators and support them directly.

Creator accounts are verified before paid features are switched on, and the platform handles payments, locked content, sharing and reporting.

03

The outcome

Creators have one place to publish, build an audience and earn in several ways, and fans have a comedy-only space to discover, laugh, follow and pay the people who make them laugh.

How it helps, area by area.

01 Who it is for

Built for people who make comedy, and the people who love it.

The problem

General social platforms treat a comedian, a meme page and a cooking channel the same way, with no focus on comedy and no clear route to being paid.

ComedyDrop speaks to two groups: creators who want a home and an income for their work, and fans who want one place to find it.

  • Stand-up comedians, sketch groups and prank creators
  • Comic artists and meme makers
  • Fans who follow, laugh, comment and support creators
  • Free content for everyone, premium content for supporters
02 Profiles & discovery

A page of their own, and a way for fans to find it.

The problem

Good creators stay undiscovered when there is no comedy-specific way to browse, and they have no profile they can call their own.

Every creator gets a branded page with their own web address, photo, banner and bio. Fans explore creators by category and follow a leaderboard ranked by all-time laughs.

  • Custom creator page, banner, profile photo and bio
  • Browse creators by category: stand-up, sketch, comics, memes, pranks, comedian and satire
  • Latest free and premium comics, memes and videos in separate feeds
  • Leaderboard ranking creators by all-time laughs
  • Creator niches such as fails, funny ads and history memes
03 Laughs & community

Laugh, comment, follow and share.

The problem

A comedy post only works if it spreads, and creators need a simple way to see what makes people laugh.

Fans react with a laugh, comment, follow creators they like and share posts. Creators can offer sharing options, including embed codes for use on other websites.

  • Laugh reactions with a visible count on every post
  • Comments and follows
  • Copy-link sharing for any post
  • Embed code so posts can live on other websites
  • Download option for content creators choose to share
04 Ways to earn

Several ways for creators to earn directly from fans.

The problem

Ad-based income is unpredictable and platform-controlled. Creators wanted income that comes straight from the people who enjoy their work.

Creators set their own prices and decide what is locked. Fans can subscribe monthly, tip to unlock a single post, pay for a direct message conversation, make a donation, or request a personalised video. Payments are by card or PayPal.

  • Monthly subscriptions for premium content
  • One-off tips to unlock a single post, for people who do not subscribe
  • Paid direct messages, with the creator setting the fee and duration
  • Donations without a subscription
  • Personalised video requests
  • Locked-content previews that creators can customise
  • Card and PayPal payments, with PayPal recommended for payouts
05 Trust & safety

Verified creators, clear rules, and a way to report.

The problem

When money is involved, fans need to know that creators are who they say they are, and everyone needs a way to flag abuse.

Before a creator can accept paid subscribers, they verify their identity with a government-issued ID. The site also provides content rules, a report-abuse route and clear privacy, terms and data-deletion pages.

  • Government ID verification before paid features are enabled
  • Approval step before a creator can charge subscribers
  • Content rules and a report-abuse link on every page
  • Privacy policy, terms of service and data-deletion request pages
  • Login required for locked content, tipping and commenting
06 Getting started

A clear path from sign-up to the first paid post.

The problem

Creators drop off when setting up a platform is confusing.

A short guide walks creators through the steps, from a free account to configuring their membership prices and payout method.

  • Create a free account and choose a custom web address
  • Add a profile photo, banner and bio
  • Verify identity and wait for approval
  • Set a monthly subscription price, a single-post tip amount and message fees
  • Choose a payout method and start posting
